I recently used Alive Studios to digitise 11 of old cine films from the 70’s that had been in storage in my parents loft for decades. I was anxious with letting my precious cine film out of my sight but I need not have worried as Alive Studios were fantastic and put me at ease from the very beginning.

The whole process was easy from start to finish, the team were responsive to my questions, they explained how to pack and send the reels safely and they explained each step clearly, I sent my reels by post, they confirmed when they received them and I received regular updates.

The digital versions turned out beautifully. The image quality was sharp and the colours looked far better than I expected from such old footage.

The pricing was reasonable considering the level of care and communication and I’m thrilled to bits to have these precious family memories preserved.

I love having the Alive Studio app as it’s so easy to watch my movies! They sent back my cine films in perfect condition, safely packaged with a USB so I can relive those memories over and over with family and friends.

The scanning service was excellent, and the quality of the finished scan is very good. Return of the films was less good - your carrier (supposedly Royal Mail, but delivered in a DHL wrapper) promised delivery on the morning of 18/10/25 between 8.35 and 10.35. This didn't happen and it as revised to a time this afternoon/evening round about noon. In the meantime I had requested delivery to the local Post Office because I knew I would be out. When I returned just after 7pm the parcel had been left on the doorstep - not a safe place.

Excellent service all round. This is the 3rd time I have used Alive Studios. If you want the best, this is your provider.

Once again a fantastic transfer from analogue tape to digital with fabulous AI enhancement.

I notice that on occasion the transfer fades down over 3 or four frames at the end of a shot, this seems to be in preparation for a brighter shot that follows.

Also it appears to take a frame at the start of a shot to adjust exposure. The first frame usually being too bright.
It could be an adjustment needs to be made to the equipment or the chance for a customer to select ‘don’t adjust’ as I grade the film myself.
