Post storm, settlement took long time
I seemed to be the only person looking for value for money.Also, the claims assessment process was drawn out. I had to send photos and other details twice to different people-why the information was not available to the second person was not clear.
When I indicated my intention to accept the settlement I heard nothing for 2 weeks, it was only when I sent an email to Allianz querying this that a response was initiated-not confident anything would have happened otherwise.
I find it unsatisfactory that no one can or will indicate how much my premium will increase. Surely this is an actuarial formula? Even a ballpark estimate would be helpful so I can make a more informed choice about claiming.
Unfortunately the person looking after my claim was not very proactive with communication or progress and this forced me to follow up regularly as otherwise the claim would still be in progress. I even had to call in and speak to another representative to further progress the claim as information I had provided was being re-requested and or getting lost...

After the initial phone call to report storm damage I received an email assigning an assessor and had no contact again after this. I had to employ a loss adjuster to work on our behalf. Finally received a cheque last week which I couldn't lodge and have had to liase with our mortgage providers to try sort it out. Nearly 6 months with our house upside down and still not fully resolved.
I was helped through process very well as I'm not familiar with making a claim through ap.

Long delay in settling claim. even taking into account the huge workload as a result of two unprecedented storms
We had a very traumatic experience of a mature tree crashing through our roof in Ardara Donegal in early Dec 24. The most frightening experience the my wife and elderly parents had ever gone through. Allianz representatives from the moment I spoke to them assured us of their support and helped guide us through the best steps to minimise further damage, make my home safe and return our beautiful home to the one we love. The staff, from initial phone contact, to meeting with the assessor and right to the claim settlement conversation put us at ease and brought a human aspect to these traumatic event. Thank all your staff on our behalf our home was brought back life in an unbelievably fast turnaround.
