Cruising on *** is one of the most awesome ways to spend time wth friends and visit the best scenic and snorkling spots on the Whitsunday's that you would never be able to do any other way. *** who did our daily briefing gave great advice about where to go to find the hidden jewels that most would never even know were there. Definately put a week on *** on the bucket list.

Thanks to Deano and his wealth of knowledge with the best snorkeling spots and giving us a full itinerary
What a legend he is, hope he gets a big Christmas bonus!!!
Thanks deano!

Thank you for providing us with such a fabulous holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in paradise.

We have been planning to go sailing for several years. It did not disappoint. We saw multiple fish, 2 turtles and 2 dolphin fins as well as gorgeous scenery
Ruby Sunday was a great vessel. Plenty big enough for 4. Motored well, easy to manoeuvre and sail. We motored probably more than we had thought we would as the wind kept shifting to a headwind where we wanted to go but it was easy to sail
Portland Roads were great to deal with. The briefing and practice with *** was great
We were only a couple of hours from the end of the trip when we anchored for lunch at the north west tip of North Molle Island. Unfortunately a big mistake. The anchor got stuck on a bommie and we needed rescuing. *** and *** were fantastic but could not get the anchor free. It was cut free.
We had a fun trip back to the marina with ***. So no serious damage to the boat or us. We were pleased to be advised of the great work the Portland Roads do for the environment and charities

It was great to meet *** and ***

Tips
Take the insurance excess reduction
Only anchor where the 100 miles book is marked as safer
Enjoy the Portland Roads vessels

After 20+ hours of travel from the US, we met Skipper *** at the marina and immediately left the world behind us. The four of us could not have asked for a better experience in the Whitsundays (or anywhere in the world for that matter)! Our catamaran was clean, comfortable and made for an excellent home for the week. Skipper *** was not only an expert sailor, he was a superb guide and excellent cook (we bought the Platinum package). We are seasoned travelers (albeit first holiday sailing like this) and honestly put this trip at the very top of anything we have ever done. If a simple, relaxing and picturesque holiday is what you are looking for- and at an exceptional value- Portland Roads is the way to go! Thanks again to ***, *** and your Portland Roads team for your hospitality- ***, Kym, *** and ***.
Great experience, Had a wonderful day sailing on the sea!

We sailed for 3 nights on Due West and if you’re going to explore the beauty of the Whitsunday Islands then sailing on your own boat is definitely the way to do it. *** took the time to find out what we wanted from the holiday and then made it happen. The bays and inlets we visited were stunning and with hardly anyone else around we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. This really was a trip of a lifetime and made so much more enjoyable because of ***’s knowledge and passion for what he does. On top of it all the boat was stylish, luxurious and really comfortable. Thanks so much for a magical adventure and yes I would love to do it again.

Whilst natural wonders always take my breath away, this time it was the operator who made me breathless. I am so impressed that I'm penning my first ever review. To everyone at Portland Roads thankyou. Your passion, knowledge and respect for the Reef is inspiring. I'm home now with every possible emotion of happiness. They say the world is too big to go back to the same place twice. I'm bucking that theory as l'm back again in 5 months time. I CAN'T WAIT.

One of the best experiences of my life ... Where to start ... The Whitsundays, Portland Roads, of the Portland Roads team ... all were outstanding!
The Portland Roads team, especially ***, have been the friendliest and most knowledgeable (and entertaining) tourist groups Ive ever met. As a keen newbie to sailing they patiently guided me on all aspects of the boat (and helped me pay attention to what was important and what was critical) and left me feeling with a sense of confidence that I could keep my family safe on a million dollar / 13 tonne vessel. More importantly somehow they managed to instill the same degree of confidence in my wife. I can also highly recommend the knowledge and story telling capabilities of *** and Master Reef Guide, Josh. Their respect for history, nature and the reef in general was highly commendable (and entertaining).
Portland Roads the boat was everything they said on the label. Comfortable, spacious (which is important for those who like a bit of quiet time), safe and solid. At one stage on passage between two Islands I looked over to see my sleeping soundly on the couch... not passed out from *** but rather relaxed like nothing Ive seen in years (since before the now teenage kids were born). I cannot recommend Portland Roads highly enough.
As for the 74 Islands ... well, I can tell you that Timmy the Turtle does pop up for air around breakfast time, goannas get pretty big and the collective noun for stingrays is a fever... and when you see 20 or so stingrays in a channel only 2 meters wide its quite a site). We didnt have nearly enough time to really explore the Islands and their natural beauty cannot be described in words ... but when you next look at that photo of Whitehaven Beach .. imagine being literally the only people on it .. surreal!
I must also add that a visit to Palm Bay (not Palm Cove) is highly recommended. That little tropical oasis, with a fantastic bar, made for an excellent pit stop.
All in all I have been recommending Portland Roads to anyone who will listen since we got home and I cant wait to go back.
The only downside is I am still rocking a little a few days later (not quite used to boats) and I am having trouble getting back in to work, with visions of sun beams dancing on the ocean constantly filling my mind... oh, and a silly grin that makes people wonder what I have been up to :-)

WOW - what an amazing experience! Went away with a couple of girlfriends for 5 nights and can’t believe how simple navigating around the islands was. I boarded a very exhausted mum of 3 and disembarked refreshed and rested... my husband thinks it took 10 years off my face 😉 *** and his team are consummate professionals and awesome to deal with. Best holiday ever and will be back again!!!
